S.A.Marionetas - Teatro & Bonecos
purpose is to promote and divulge puppet theater
and theater in general. For that matter the company's work can be divided in
two main areas: research for new aesthetics solutions for puppet theater on
one hand and the production of shows for childhood on the other. In both
cases shows are designed and produced in order to allow greater mobility and
low venue requirements, this being a chosen strategy to better promote the
art of puppetry.
Since its creation until the present day the
company has also developed activities in cultural animation, namelly reading
incentive iniciatives and workshops in theater and puppet theater. The
company started in 1979 as a school based company under the name "Pequenos
Comediantes de Trapos e Farrapos" situation that lasted until 1984. From
then on the company maintained a more or less amateur activity. In 1993 the
name was changed to S.A.Marionetas and a partnership created with Carpe Diem
Association that lasted until 1997. In October of 1997 S.A.Marionetas became
